Overview
Wakefield Council is hiring Education Welfare Officers (Elective Home Education). This is a full-time, permanent role based in Wakefield.
Responsibilities
- Provide prompt, consistent and rigorous intervention in line with statutory processes for families who choose to Electively Home Educate.
- Advise schools regarding compliance with legislation and DfE guidance related to Elective Home Education.
- Identify and challenge practice where appropriate and offer support to schools and families.
- Conduct casework on Elective Home Education and undertake other duties within the Education Welfare Service.
- Work as part of a supportive team with access to regular supervision.
Qualifications
- Experience of working in schools and/or educational establishments.
- Good working knowledge of Elective Home Education.
- Ability to engage with families and schools to promote attendance and compliance.
