Overview

Are you a dedicated, experienced social worker with a passion for making a difference? Wakefield Council is looking for a dynamic Senior Social Worker to join the Hospital Social Work Team and help us provide outstanding support to individuals and families across our diverse community. As a Senior Social Worker at Wakefield Council, you\’ll be at the forefront of delivering high-quality social care services. You\’ll provide leadership and guidance to a team of social workers, working collaboratively to improve outcomes for vulnerable adults and families.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload, including capacity assessments, best interest decision making, Care Act assessments, and being part of a duty rota.
  • Deliver exceptional social care to the adults we are supporting and their carers, promoting choice and control where possible.
  • Engage in adopting strengths-based, person-centred assessments and participate in outcomes-focused and preventative conversations that build on the strengths of people and their local networks.
  • Provide an effective response to safeguarding enquiries and support for people with impaired capacity to make decisions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Social Work, or relevant Social Work qualifications recognised by the Central Council for Education & Training in Social Work, or Registration with HCPC.
  • Evidence of successful completion of post-qualifying award or training (e.g., DoLs Assessor, ASYE Assessor or Practice Educator).
  • Evidence of maintaining skill and knowledge base in the professional field through post-qualifying training or other opportunities.
  • Ability to develop and sustain effective working relationships with service users, carers and groups.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills with a commitment to improving service delivery.

Employment Details

This is a part-time post of 22.5 hours per week. Monday – Wednesday and includes a Saturday 1 in 6 which is reflected in your pay and a subsequent day off. Days covered can be discussed further.

Additional Information

  • DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check required. The successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure Application Form and provide criminal conviction information.
  • Fluency Duty: This post is subject to the Fluency Duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016. The post-holder is required to demonstrate an appropriate level of fluency as detailed in the job specification.
  • Probation: In line with the Council\’s Probation Procedure, certain positions may be subject to a six-month probationary period. This requirement does not apply to internal vacancies.
