The Senior HR Generalist will provide a comprehensive, professional and proactive HR service to the Wakefield Site, while also supporting wider UK HR activities as required. They will work with the site-based management teams and employees to provide advice and guidance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThis job description represents only the primary areas of responsibility; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.
- Employee Relations and Case Management
- Lead and manage a range of employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, absence management and performance issues.
- Provide expert, risk-based advice to managers in line with company policy and UK employment law.
- Prepare documentation, conduct investigations and attend hearings where required.
- Ensure all cases are managed in a timely, fair and legally compliant manner.
- Site HR Support
- Act as the primary HR contact for the Wakefield Facility.
- Build strong relationships with managers and employees to support engagement and performance.
- Provide coaching and guidance to line managers on best practice people management.
- Support workforce planning and organisation change initiatives.
- Performance and Development
- Support performance management processes including appraisals, PIPs and capability procedures.
- Advise managers on managing underperformance and improving team effectiveness.
- Work with managers to identify development needs and support talent progression.
- Policy and Compliance
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures across the site.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and best practice.
- Support audits and ensure HR records are accurate and compliant.
- Promote a culture of fairness, consistency and accountability.
- Absence and Wellbeing Management
- Monitor absence trends and support managers in reducing absence levels.
- Advise on occupational health referrals and reasonable adjustments.
- Support wellbeing initiatives and promote a positive working environment.
- Recruitment and Onboarding Support
- Support hiring managers with recruitment processes where required.
- Ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new starters.
- Provide guidance on selection processes and best practice.
- Cross-Site / UK Support
- Provide HR support to other UK sites as required.
- Assist with HR projects, policy updates and business-wide initiatives.
- Support consistency of HR practices across multiple locations.
- CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a generalist HR role or Senior Advisor level.
- Strong employee relations experience with the ability to manage complex cases independently.
- Solid knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence and challenge managers constructively.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.

The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am to 2.30pm. Pay Rate: £38,000pa to £45,000pa depending on experience.
