CECO Environmental is a global leader in sustainable solutions for industrial air, water, and energy transition. We are seeking a Contract Design Engineer to support the delivery of engineered systems and products from concept through to manufacture and site deployment.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mechanical and structural designs using CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
- Produce manufacturing drawings, assembly layouts, and technical documentation
- Perform engineering calculations to validate designs (structural integrity, load cases, thermal, acoustic where applicable)
- Support and lead the design of modular enclosures, containers, skids, or engineered equipment
- Ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements
Project Support
- Support and lead multiple concurrent engineering projects from concept to release
- Work with Project Managers to meet programme milestones and cost targets
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises
- Resolve technical issues arising during manufacturing or installation
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards such as:
- BS EN 1090
- Eurocodes
- Machinery Directive
- CE / UKCA requirements
- CDM regulations
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities for design standardisation and cost reduction
- Support development of engineering tools, templates, and procedures
- Contribute to lessons learned and design knowledge capture
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure buildability
- Engage suppliers on technical specifications and procurement support
- Support quality investigations and non‑conformance resolution
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 3 to 8+ years’ experience in design engineering within manufacturing or capital equipment
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD
- Strong experience with PDM Professional and administration
- Experience producing fabrication drawings, BOMs and other design deliverables
- Knowledge of structural or mechanical design principles
- Understanding of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, fabrication, machining and assembly)
Desirable
- Experience with modular enclosures, acoustic systems, or containerised equipment
- Familiarity with structural calculations and engineering analysis tools
- Knowledge of acoustic or thermal considerations
- Incorporated or working towards Incorporated Engineer status
- Experience within Containment, Energy, Industrial, or infrastructure sectors

Hours & Pay
Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Shift pattern to be discussed at interview. Pay Rate: £45,000 per annum.
