Position Description
This position supervises and oversees program development, schedules, coordinates, and instructs classes for Basic Law Enforcement Training and other programs under the NC Department of Justice, Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, and NC Sheriff\’s Education and Training Standards at both basic and advanced levels.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

- Assist in promoting, coordinating, visiting, and evaluating programs under the NC Department of Justice and related commissions.
- Serve as School Director for programs such as BLET, SMI, DOCC, and Instructor Training.
- Oversee classroom operations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and regulations.
- Supervise and evaluate adjunct instructors and classes at various locations.
- Schedule, coordinate, and instruct training classes as needed.
- Manage fiscal responsibilities, including program costs and budgets.
- Ensure programs meet accreditation standards, including CALEA.
- Represent the college at community and law enforcement meetings, promoting programs.
- Maintain departmental reports and records; collect data for administrative and quality improvement purposes.
- Develop and implement responsive training programs for agencies.
- Register classes and manage equipment and supplies for off-site classes.
- Supervise office staff involved in the programs.
Qualifications

- Knowledge of training requirements of stakeholder agencies.
- Intermediate skills with MS Office.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor\’s degree.
- Five years of law enforcement experience.
- Current General Instructor certification by NC Department of Justice.
- Eligibility to obtain School Director designation within six months.
- Clean driving record and ability to drive for college purposes.
Preferences:
- Master\’s degree.
- Multiple specialized instructor certifications.
- Prior experience as a School Director under NC standards.
- Supervisory experience in law enforcement and community college settings.
