About the role
As one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you’ll bring the unique blend of quality Waitrose produce and partner-led service right to our customers’ doors. You’ll actively play out our ethos – passionate partners serving food lovers. When not on the road, you will support the shop team with daily tasks such as stock replenishment and housekeeping, contributing to the efficient and productive running of the shop in a friendly and welcoming environment. You must be 18 years or older.
Key Responsibilities
- Check delivery routes for the day.
- Load and prepare the van for deliveries, ensuring that all orders are together and can be efficiently delivered directly to customers.
- Ensure all appropriate vehicle safety checks are complete, maintaining full road compliance, health and safety.
- Act as an ambassador for the Waitrose brand while on the road, providing excellent customer service.
- Help customers with their shopping and build rapport based on trust and service.
- Support the shop team with general shopkeeping tasks when required.
Essential skills / Experience
- Full valid B‑Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
- Great customer service skills.
- Time‑management skills.
- Ability to cope with the physical requirements of the role (e.g., lifting crates, moving cages).
- Comfortable working independently with the ability to be self‑motivated and adaptable.
- IT literate.
Desirable skills / Experience
- Previous experience in a driving role and knowledge of chilled vehicles would be welcomed.
