About The Role

As a Vehicle Technician in one of our workshops, you\'ll be repairing and maintaining our fleet of delivery vehicles, ensuring they are safe and roadworthy to both VOSA and Partnership standards. You’ll be working with many experienced technicians who will ensure you have all the tools you need to succeed and excel in your role, giving you opportunities to develop your knowledge and progress your career.

At a glance

  • Salary range - Salary up to £42,200 per annum depending on experience
  • Contract type - Permanent
  • Work Pattern - 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday core hours, earliest start 6am and latest finish 5pm. There will be an option for Saturday Overtime, but this is not a guaranteed feature.
  • Location - Leylands

Role description

To carry out scheduled repair and maintenance of the Waitrose E Commerce Vehicle fleet and outlying branch vehicles, in a professional and competent manner. Providing technical support to the on-site transport department and Local Waitrose and John Lewis branches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled repair and maintenance of the on-site E commerce light commercial fleet or within a 60 mile radius of Leylands Workshop, as required. A business vehicle will be available to travel to required sites.
  • Repair and maintain outlying commercial and light commercial vehicles for John Lewis and Waitrose branches and CDHs
  • Ensure all relevant inspection/service, job cards and defect documentation are filled in correctly and signed off in accordance with Operator licence conditions and DVSA guidelines
  • Be conversant with IT systems such as Key2, Service Rapido and relevant vehicle truck and van diagnostic systems
  • Adhere to health and safety measures on site and roadside
  • Attend breakdowns remote from the centre of operations in a safe and responsible manner, taking due consideration for lone working guidelines
  • Take ownership of personal and technical development with support and guidance from team leaders
  • participate in and provide input towards continuous improvement of the department, such as best working practices and safe use of equipment
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for technical improvement of the fleet
  • Liaise with and support peers by sharing information
  • Attend manufacturers technical training updates
  • Keep abreast of new developments within the commercial vehicle repair industry
  • Ensure that the work area is kept clean and tidy at all times
  • Account for your own time, be proactive and efficient when working within the workshop
  • Work as part of the team and assist others where required

Essential Skills You’ll Need

  • Sufficient experience of a commercial vehicle workshop
  • City & Guilds 1,2,3 Vehicle technician or equivalent qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable Skills

  • HGV Experience
  • EV Level 3
  • Tail lift repair experience
