Hospitality Supermarket Assistant

About the role

As a Partner on our service counters, you\’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and passion for food while ensuring it is ethically sourced. You will recommend recipes to customers and actively embody our ethos: passionate Partners serving food lovers. Your enthusiasm and friendliness will help build lasting relationships with customers, enhancing their impression of the Waitrose brand and fostering loyalty. Additionally, you will contribute to maximizing sales and profit.

Key Responsibilities

1. Take responsibility for your own food counter, maintaining high presentation and hygiene standards.
2. Monitor stock levels to ensure popular products are available.
3. Handle open food carefully, following health & safety protocols and helping to reduce food wastage.
4. Keep updated on new products and understand Waitrose\’s food values, such as animal welfare.
5. Support the wider shop team with general shopkeeping tasks as needed.

Essential skills/experience you\’ll need

• Effective communication skills to work well within a team and with customers.

Desirable skills/experience you may have

• Experience in a customer-facing role.
• Experience in catering or hospitality environments.
• Knowledge of current food and drink trends.
• Flexible approach to support the branch as needed.
