About the Role
Our Vehicle Technicians carry out scheduled servicing and maintenance of the John Lewis Partnership Fleet in a professional and competent manner.
At a Glance
- Salary: up to £44,200 per annum.
- From 5th October 2025, any time worked between 18:00 – 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium at £3 per hour, and Nights Premium at £4 per hour for those enrolled into Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.
Working Hours
Late Shift
Full time role, 37.5 hours per week, with the expectation of working 1 in 2 Saturdays at premium overtime rates.

Night Shift
Full time role, 37.5 hours per week.
- Week 1: Monday – Friday 22:00 – 06:00
- Week 2: Sunday – Thursday 22:00 – 06:00

What You\’ll Be Doing
- Ensure all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard to both VOSA and Partnership’s requirements.
- Ensure that all inspection/service/defect paperwork is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a safe working practice that complies with current safety and Partnership regulations.
- Ensure that high quality repairs are carried out in a cost-effective manner.
- Ensure that all working areas are kept clean and tidy.
- Assist in specific projects as directed.
- Keep up to date with developments within the motor industry.
- Carry out servicing & repairs of the Partnership’s fleet of vehicles.
- Take ownership of personal development, seeking assistance & guidance from team leaders.
- Account for your own time, be efficient and proactive when working within the workshop.
- Work as part of the team and assist others where needed.
Essential Experience / Qualifications
- City and Guilds 1,2,3 Heavy Vehicle Technician or equivalent qualifications.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Proven background in transport commercial vehicle repairs.
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and roadworthiness.
- \’C\’ or \’C+E\’ driving licence is desirable, but not essential.
