About the role

Our Vehicle Technicians carry out scheduled servicing and maintenance of the John Lewis Partnership Fleet in a professional and competent manner.

At a glance

Salary – The salary offered for this role is up to £44,200, plus Overtime when required.

If you join us from 5th October 2025, in addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 18:00 – 22:00 will attract an Evening Premium at a rate of £3 per hour for those enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements

Working Hours – Full time role, 37.5 hours per week on a 2 week rota, with the expectation of working 1 in 2 Saturdays, at premium overtime rates.

  • Week 1: Monday to Friday – 06:00-14:00
  • Week 2: Monday to Friday – 14:00-22:00

Contract type – This is a permanent role.

What you\’ll be doing

  • To ensure all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard to both VOSA and Partnership\’s requirements.
  • To ensure that all inspection/service/defect paperwork is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a safe working practice that complies with current safety and Partnership regulations
  • To ensure that high quality repairs are carried out in a cost effective manner.
  • Ensure that all working areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • To assist in specific projects as directed.
  • To keep up to date of developments within the motor industry and take note of changes that may affect the effective operation of the workshop.
  • To carry out servicing & repairs of the Partnerships fleet of vehicles.
  • To take ownership of personal development, seeking assistance & guidance from team leaders
  • To account for your own time, be efficient and pro active when working within the workshop.
  • To work as part of the team and assist others where needed.

Essential Experience/Qualifications required:

  • City and Guilds 1,2,3 Vehicle technician or equivalent qualifications
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • A proven background in transport commercial vehicle repairs
  • Knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and roadworthiness
  • A \’C\’ or \’C+E\’ driving licence is desirable, but not essential
