About The Role

As one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you’ll bring the unique blend of quality Waitrose produce and Partner-led service right to our customers’ doors. You’ll be based at our purpose-built Customer Fulfilment Centre in Cooksdown, which is closed to the public and has bespoke equipment to maximise your ability to deliver market‑leading service to our customers. The deliveries fulfilled from the centre are from customers purchasing online within London and the surrounding areas.

Due to its nature, you need to be 18‑years or older to work in this role.

Key responsibilities

  • Checking your delivery routes for the day.
  • Ensuring all appropriate vehicle safety checks are complete, maintaining full road compliance and health and safety.
  • Being an ambassador for the Waitrose brand while on the road, with great customer service as your number one priority.
  • Helping customers with their shopping and building rapport with them based on trust and service.
  • Supporting the wider CFC team when required with general shop‑keeping tasks.

Essential skills / experience you’ll need

  • Full valid B‑Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Able to cope with the physical requirements of the role (e.g., lifting crates, walking up staircases, moving cages).

Desirable skills / experience you may have

  • Previous experience in a driving role and knowledge of chilled vehicles would be welcomed, however we’ll give you all the training you need to perform at your best everyday.

Important points to note

  • Some roles are subject to pre‑employment vetting, which may include DBS checks. If required, you’ll be informed and provided with information about vetting during the recruitment process and we encourage you to complete any vetting documents quickly to avoid delays.
  • We occasionally close vacancies early if we receive a high volume of applications, so we recommend applying early.
  • We want all of our Partners to have a good work‑life balance and we support flexible working – this might mean flexible or compressed hours, job sharing or shorter hour contracts where possible. Please discuss this further with the hiring manager during your interview.
