Waites Recruitment Consultancy are seeking a Civil & Groundworks Buyer based in the Swindon area on a full-time basis.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and organised Construction Buyer to join our team on an office-based basis. The role is responsible for the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services across groundworks and building alteration projects, ensuring value for money, programme certainty, and full compliance with the company’s Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001). The successful candidate will work closely with Division Managers and the Senior Management Team to support project delivery and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure materials, plant, and subcontract services in line with approved procedures and budgets
- Prepare and issue enquiries, evaluate quotations, and place purchase orders
- Maintain accurate procurement records to support traceability and ISO audit requirements
- Work with Division Managers to understand project procurement needs and programmes
- Monitor supplier performance and support approved supplier management
- Assist in identifying cost-saving and value engineering opportunities
- Ensure procurement activities comply with quality, environmental, and health & safety requirements
- Support internal and external audits as required
Office-Based Working
This role is office based and involves close coordination with commercial, finance, and operational teams. Site visits may be required on an occasional basis but are not a core requirement of the role.
