Job Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Managing Surveyor and Commercial Director, you will be responsible for managing costs relating to residential developments, with the focus being to minimise costs on projects whilst still achieving the required standards and quality. In this role you will be involved from inception, right through to completion. This will include budget control, procure sub-contractors, arrange valuation reports, and provide support to the commercial and site teams. You will be dedicated to building excellence through efficient and value-based procurement programs.
You will be expected to:
- Measurement and valuation of works (on site and from drawings) for Valuations and Variations as directed by your Line Manager.
- The procurement and analysis of sub-contract tender packages.
- Assistance with pricing of system-based Bill of Quantities.
- Evaluating and agreeing variations and instructions.
- Measurement and valuation of subcontractors work for payments and account purposes.
- Ensure that payments to sub-contractors are made on time and in accordance with the subcontract agreement.
- Completing in-house site valuations/CVR’s in line with valuation timetable.
- Preparation of Interim and Final development appraisals and budgets.
- Prepare material reconciliations.
- Complete accurate costing for each aspect of site development.
- Liaise with site personnel and subcontractors in order to maximise productivity.
- Attending monthly Development Team meetings & Groundworker meetings on site.

- Experience of working as a Quantity Surveyor within the housebuilding industry.
- Construction industry related qualifications.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Ability to prioritise workload, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of construction material and their application.
- Flexible with the ability to solve problems and find solutions.
- Knowledge of COINS an advantage.
