About the Role
As a Mental Health Clinician - Registered Social Worker within our Child, Adolescent & Family Service (CAFS), you will play a crucial role in supporting tamariki, rangatahi and their whÄnau to navigate mental health challenges and strengthen wellbeing. You will undertake comprehensive assessments, provide therapeutic social work interventions, develop tailored care plans, and work collaboratively to support recovery in a way that upholds safety, dignity and empowerment.
This is a role where your clinical decision-making, cultural responsiveness, and ability to build strong therapeutic relationships truly matter. You will be working with increasing complexity, managing your own caseload, and contributing to best-practice approaches within a supportive multidisciplinary team. About the Team/Service/Location
You will be part of NgÄ Harakeke Mai Rongokako - Child, Adolescent & Family Services (CAFS), a dedicated and collaborative team within Mental Health and Addictions. CAFS works closely with whÄnau, schools, GPs, NGOs, and other allied health and mental health professionals to deliver high-quality, culturally safe care across Te Matau a MÄui - Hawkes Bay.

About you
You will be an experienced, confident and compassionate Registered Social Worker who is committed to supporting tamariki, rangatahi and their whÄnau. You will bring:
- A Bachelor of Social Work (or higher) and a current NZ Social Work Registration Board APC.
- Extensive experience in mental health and/or addictions (ideally 3+ years).
- Strong assessment, therapeutic and clinical reasoning skills.
- Excellent communication and engagement capabilities, with the ability to work effectively with young people and whÄnau.
- Confidence working autonomously while also contributing to multidisciplinary and interprofessional teams.
- Cultural competence, including the ability to engage effectively and respectfully with MÄori and apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice.
- A full clean NZ driver licence and competence working within community settings.
- DAO (Duly Authorised Officer) training or willingness to complete.
- Experience in community mental health, child protection, or substance use interventions.
- Counselling skills or additional therapeutic training.
