Job Brief: Tax Consultant in the Tax Advisory Department – A role which requires you to support the Tax Director to establish and develop the Tax Advisory department within I Will Solicitors. These services include but are not limited to:
- IHT planning
- Succession Planning for families
- Family Investment Companies
- Structuring businesses and investments in a tax efficient manner
- Long-term planning for families to build and structure wealth to help achieve objectives (similar to family office)
- Pre-Sale tax planning
- Advice relating to tax residence
- Profit extraction advice
Job Description: Working on the ‘usual’ files that are associated with working in a firm specialising in Private Client and Corporate Tax Advisory work. You are expected to take responsibility for the work that you are assigned to ensure that it is delivered in a complete and accurate manner, within deadlines that are agreed. Supporting with client proposals and client onboarding in line with AML regulations; attending and taking notes in client meetings; maintaining detailed and up-to-date files for quality control and risk management purposes; managing workloads and client demands in an organised and effective manner, and communicating any issues and concerns to your supervisor; preparing client advice in a technically accurate and detailed manner, whilst also employing an appropriate and effective communication style. Managing the billing on clients, which includes raising invoices in a timely manner at the relevant milestone and also chasing outstanding invoices. Supporting with marketing and business development initiatives, which may include travel in the UK; and related office, commercial and legal duties. Work with the existing functions of the firm to understand the nature of the work that they do so that you can then identify cross-selling opportunities for clients. Preparing marketing material, including information sheets on various items of tax planning. Similarly, preparing material for the website, events, podcasts, etc. Attending events to market and promote the services of the firm. Sharing knowledge with other members of the firm by answering queries, providing advice and training. Ensuring that all files are managed in accordance with Law Society guidelines, particularly in relation to anti-money laundering directives and proper accounting procedures. Ensuring the administration of the office and files is up to date, including file closing, archiving, indexing and storing, as well as confidential document storage. Further, this is to include ensuring appropriate back up of data.
