About Wahed

The global financial system wasn't built for everyone.

For millions of people, its reliance on interest (riba) creates a barrier to managing money and building wealth without compromising their values.

At Wahed, we're changing that.

We are a global fintech company on a mission to build a new financial system—one that is ethical, accessible, and entirely interest-free.

From our offices across the globe, our team is building products that were once deemed impossible.

If you're driven to solve complex problems and believe finance should empower, not exclude, join us in building a more equitable financial future.

Our real estate business extends that mission to property — giving everyday investors access to institutional-quality, income-generating homes.

We are growing quickly, we run lean and efficiently, and we are looking for purpose-driven people who want to build something that truly matters.

Job Brief

We are seeking a flexible, analytical, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves Associate, Asset Management to help steward Wahed's growing real estate portfolio across the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and the United States.

Reporting to the Senior Analyst, Asset Management, you will be the hands‑on execution engine that helps the Senior Analyst deliver against the team's goals — making sure newly acquired properties are stabilized, protected, performing, and delivering the distributions we have committed to our investors.

The Senior Analyst owns these outcomes; your job is to make them happen on the ground.

You will be equally comfortable in a spreadsheet and on the phone with a property manager, will do whatever it takes to get the job done, and will help build the repeatable processes that let a lean team manage a rapidly growing, multi‑market portfolio.

Job Responsibilities

As the accountable owner of these outcomes, you will

  • Post-Acquisition Stabilization & Operations
  • Help drive post‑acquisition stabilization of newly acquired properties — ensuring each asset is fully operational from day one, including that insurance is in place and utilities are set up and active.
  • Coordinate necessary repairs and capital works so they are completed on time and on budget, and continuously monitor and track ongoing repairs and maintenance across the portfolio.
  • Monitor cash balances at each asset to confirm adequate reserves for anticipated repairs, escalating liquidity risks to the Senior Analyst early.
  • Work with the Shariah and risk teams to ensure prudent risk management at all times
  • Property Manager Coordination
  • Support the sourcing, onboarding, and monitoring of third‑party property managers across the UK, Malaysia, and US.
  • Hold managers accountable to performance, reporting, and service standards, and help manage the transition whenever a property manager changes.
  • Performance, Rent & Tenants
  • Help maximize rental yield and asset performance — monitoring rent collection, occupancy, and leasing velocity, and analyzing lease rolls and renewals.
  • Evaluate tenant profiles and monitor tenant and lease‑level risk across the portfolio.
  • Financials, Payments & Distributions
  • Follow up with property managers and Finance to ensure property‑level financials are prepared accurately and on time.
  • Track that all payments are made on time (taxes, insurance, utilities, vendor and property‑manager invoices), and help ensure investor distributions are calculated and paid exactly as agreed.
  • Investor Reporting & Cross-Functional Support
  • Help prepare quarterly investor communications and reporting for the Senior Analyst's review.
  • Partner day‑to‑day with the Finance team, local country teams, and Investment Management team as an operational bridge, and step into ad hoc problem‑solving across regions whenever the portfolio needs it.
  • Building for Scale
  • Contribute to the playbooks, checklists, and AI‑enabled workflows that let us run efficiently and absorb rapid growth without adding friction.
  • Job Specification

Experience & Technical Skills

  • 2–4+ years of experience in real estate asset management, property management, real estate finance, or a related operational role.
  • Strong financial acumen — comfortable with property‑level P&Ls, budgets, variance analysis, cash flow, reserves, and investor distributions.
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills, with the ability to turn data into clear decisions and reporting.
  • How You Work
  • Genuinely quantitative, thoughtful, and productive on your own merits — able to reason through analysis and produce high‑quality work without relying on AI, and following good etiquette by validating and owning outputs rather than simply pasting AI‑generated results.
  • Comfortable using AI to work faster and smarter; we actively encourage AI‑enabled workflows to stay lean and efficient.
  • A genuine “whatever it takes” mindset — comfortable chasing property managers, vendors, and internal teams until the job is done — and comfortable with ambiguity, change, and rapid growth.
  • Collaboration & Flexibility
  • Exceptional organization, follow‑through, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage many properties and deliverables across regions and deadlines at once.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to hold third parties accountable and produce investor‑ready updates.
  • Flexibility to work across UK, Malaysia, and US time zones as a remote team member.
  • Knowledge of, or a genuine passion for, ethical, values‑based, Shariah‑compliant investing.
  • Bonus Points
  • Experience across multiple international markets; familiarity with insurance placement, utilities setup, and repair/Cap Ex management; and experience with asset‑or property‑management software.
  • Why This Role Matters

As Associate, Asset Management, you are the engine that keeps our promises to investors real — every stabilized asset, every completed repair, and every distribution paid on time runs through your work.

You will learn the full asset‑management playbook alongside the Senior Analyst while directly contributing to the future of ethical, Shariah‑compliant real estate investing.
