Join Medacs Healthcare as a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor. Are you an NMC‐registered Nurse or HCPC‐registered Paramedic, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist ready for a change from frontline clinical work, but keen to continue using your expertise? As a PIP Functional Assessor / Disability Assessor at Medacs Healthcare, you'll complete Personal Independence Payment (PIP) functional assessments to understand how health conditions affect everyday life. This is a non‐hands‐on clinical role centred on clinical reasoning, analysis and report writing. The hybrid working model combines home working with time at one of our assessment centres, offering predictable hours, long‐term stability and a healthier work-life balance.

What you'll do:

  • Conduct face‐to‐face and telephone PIP assessments in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Analyse medical evidence and clinical information
  • Produce accurate, detailed and evidence‐based written reports
  • Work to defined quality standards and clinical frameworks
  • Engage positively with feedback and development opportunities
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative colleagues
  • Attend the assessment centre as required

What we're looking for:

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Occupational Therapist
  • Active NMC or HCPC registration with no restrictions
  • Minimum 1 year's UK clinical experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident use of digital systems (35 WPM typing speed)
  • Right to work in the UK (sponsorship not available)

Desirable:

  • Experience in functional assessment or advisory roles
  • Confidence in producing high‐quality written clinical reports

What's on offer:

  • Competitive salary with structured pay progression and bonus potential
  • Approval bonus
  • Hybrid working arrangement
  • Structured hours – no evenings, weekends or bank holidays
  • 25 days' annual leave plus your birthday off
  • NMC/HCPC fee reimbursement after probation
  • Comprehensive training and ongoing clinical support
  • Clear progression routes and CPD opportunities
  • £2,500 referral bonus (terms apply)

You'll enjoy this role if you:

  • Prefer structured assessments and clear clinical frameworks
  • Feel confident using computers and learning new clinical systems
  • Enjoy writing detailed, high‐quality reports
  • Value routine, consistency and a balanced working pattern
  • Are keen to learn and develop and open to constructive feedback

This role might not be right for you if you:

  • Are looking to stay in hands‐on clinical care or fast‐paced, acute settings
  • Prefer minimal structure rather than clearly defined processes
  • Don't enjoy detailed report writing or written clinical work
  • Would find working mainly with digital systems frustrating
  • Would be uncomfortable with re‐training for a different type of clinical role, which includes a comprehensive, supported training programme
  • Would feel uncomfortable working in a role with targets and quality measures

Why join Medacs Healthcare?

You'll be supported by experienced clinical leaders, benefit from structured training and have the opportunity to build a long‐term career in a supportive hybrid working environment. Medacs Healthcare is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer. We encourage applications from candidates with a disability and commit to offering an interview to those who meet the minimum criteria for the role. You may anonymise your CV if you wish.
