Chadwick Nott have been instructed by a top 100 national law firm with one of the largest and most respected residential development practices in the UK. Their Housebuilding & Strategic Land team continues to grow at pace, and they are now seeking a Senior Associate or Managing Associate to join their Bristol office.

This is a standout opportunity to work within a nationally recognised residential development and strategic land practice, advising a broad mix of housebuilders, developers, landowners, promoters, housing associations and local authorities. The team handles a wide range of immediate and strategic land acquisitions across the South West and nationally, supported by a large, integrated group of planning, construction, environmental, agricultural, tax and litigation specialists.

You will take a lead role in running transactions day to day, managing client relationships and helping to drive new business. The work will span the full spectrum of residential development matters, including conditional and unconditional contracts, options, affordable housing structures, back to back disposals, partnership schemes, easements, infrastructure agreements, overage, site assembly and management agreements. You will also gain exposure to more complex strategic land arrangements such as promotion agreements, hybrid structures, collaboration agreements, land pooling, mixed use schemes, PRS, institutional investment, portfolio acquisitions and charging.

Candidate Requirements

  • 3-8+ years’ PQE in residential development, housebuilding or strategic land work
  • A strong track record acting for housebuilders, developers, promoters and/or landowners
  • Excellent technical ability and commercial awareness
  • Established and growing client relationships, ideally with contacts in the regional development market
  • Experience across key transaction types including options, conditional contracts, affordable housing structures, overage, infrastructure agreements and site assembly
  • Exposure to complex strategic land arrangements such as promotion agreements, collaboration agreements, land pooling or mixed use schemes
  • A solid understanding of VAT and SDLT issues
  • A client focused, ambitious and collaborative approach, with the confidence to manage high value matters and contribute to business development
