A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an excellent company who specialise in Special Purpose Machinery in the Poole Area. With no day ever being the same, the Mechanical Design Engineer role offers genuine long-term progression and career development within a first-class manufacturing environment.
Job Description
- Develop high-quality mechanical designs and relevant documentation in accordance with design and quality standards.
- Work with the Engineering team to continually improve processes and implement changes from lessons learned.
- Maintain the Engineering review process focusing on design objectives, including ease of manufacture and assembly, product lifecycle maintenance, safety, and warranty.
- Interpret technical requirements and produce drawings, models, Bills of Material, and engineering reports.
- Follow product lifecycles from compliance to customer or market requirements through to final design review and certification.
- Ensure designs comply with design control procedures, local and international regulations, and military standards.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to establish technical requirements or provide technical support.
- Take ownership of continual professional development and highlight key opportunities for development within the business.
Key Skills
- Proven experience with mechanical design of special purpose machinery.
- Expertise in using CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Knowledge of basic electrical and wiring layout.
- Competence in material selection and analysis specific to operating environments.
- Experience with thermal analysis.
- Understanding of motion control systems including motors, gearboxes, and controllers.
