Our forward-thinking Plymouth based client are expanding and on the lookout for an ambitious Associate to join their thriving Corporate & Business team. With a strong pipeline of work and a clear growth strategy, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a team that’s going places.

The Role

The successful candidate will be working closely with a broad range of clients from startups and scale-ups to established SMEs and larger corporates advising on high-quality commercial matters. You can expect to handle a varied caseload involving:

  • Business sales, acquisitions and reorganisations
  • Commercial contracts and trading terms
  • IP and licensing, including software agreements
  • Supply, manufacturing and distribution deals
  • Franchise, agency and consultancy agreements
  • Shareholder arrangements, joint ventures and strategic partnerships

This is a key role for someone who can manage their own matters confidently while supporting the team’s wider growth and development. You’ll be expected to play a part in mentoring junior lawyers, helping shape client service delivery, and contributing to business development initiatives.

Requirements

Rather than be hung up on PQE brackets this firm care more about ability, attitude, and a commercial mindset. Ideally, you will be:

  • A qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive in England & Wales
  • Skilled in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts
  • Confident advising on complex legal issues in a practical, jargon-free way
  • A natural relationship-builder, both with clients and within a team
  • Tech-literate and comfortable using modern legal tools and MS Office
  • Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
