Job Summary
We’re recruiting a Urology Specialist Registrar to support a busy urology service, delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care across outpatient clinics, surgical training lists and emergency pathways. You’ll work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, gaining experience across core and advanced urology, including endoscopy, biopsies and urodynamics. This role suits a registrar with at least six months NHS experience who is keen to develop strong operative and diagnostic skills while contributing to service development within a forward‑thinking team.
About You
You’re a Urology Specialist Registrar who enjoys working in a busy clinical environment and values a mix of outpatient work, surgical training and on‑call responsibilities. You communicate confidently, support colleagues and trainees, and take a proactive, compassionate approach to patient care. You’re motivated to continue developing your clinical skills while contributing to a collaborative, patient‑focused urology service.
Key Responsibilities
- Support urology outpatient clinics, providing assessment, diagnostics and follow‑up care
- Assist with operating lists, including endoscopy, prostate biopsy, urodynamics and minor urology procedures
- Provide middle‑grade on‑call cover for urological emergencies as part of the registrar rota, ensuring safe and timely management of acute presentations
- Contribute to inpatient ward reviews, working closely with the MDT to ensure continuity of care
- Provide clear information and advice to patients, carers, GPs and clinical teams
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with training and organisational standards
- Support junior doctors, foundation trainees and medical students through supervision and teaching
- Participate in audit, CPD, governance and service improvement initiatives
Essential Skills & Experience
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Minimum of six months recent NHS experience
- Experience in core urology, including outpatient exposure and early operative skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Effective time management and clinical prioritisation
- Compassionate, patient‑centred approach
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in endourology, prostate diagnostics or functional urology
- Involvement in teaching, audit or research projects
- Interest in developing subspecialty skills within urology
