The predicted salary is between 110 - 110 £ per hour.
We're recruiting a Consultant in Diabetes to support our client in delivering safe, high quality diabetes services across both outpatient and inpatient settings. This role suits a locum consultant with at least six months recent NHS experience who can adapt quickly to NHS systems, pathways and multidisciplinary teams.
You'll play an active role in maintaining clinical excellence, supporting service delivery and contributing to the ongoing development of diabetes services.
About You
You're a GMC registered Consultant with strong experience in diabetes care. You work confidently within multidisciplinary teams, communicate clearly with patients and colleagues, and are committed to evidence based practice, patient safety and continuous improvement. You're comfortable managing complex diabetes cases and contributing to clinical leadership within the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver consultant led diabetes care across outpatient and inpatient services
- Assess and manage patients with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and complex metabolic conditions
- Support acute diabetes services and inpatient diabetes management
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including diabetes specialist nurses and allied health professionals
- Contribute to diabetes service development and patient management pathways
- Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives
- Supervise and support junior doctors and clinical colleagues
- Maintain accurate clinical records in line with GMC and organisational standards
Essential Skills & Experience
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Minimum six months recent NHS experience
- Experience delivering consultant level diabetes services within hospital or specialist settings
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Clinical interest in areas such as diabetes technology, continuous glucose monitoring or insulin pump management
- Experience supporting integrated diabetes care across community and hospital services
- Involvement in service redesign, pathway development or diabetes improvement programmes
- Participation in medical education, mentoring or supervision of trainees
- Contribution to clinical audit, research or quality improvement initiatives within diabetes services
