A leading UK law firm recognised in the Legal 500 is seeking an Employment Associate to join its growing team. With offices across the South West and London, the firm is known for its forward‑thinking approach, strong national presence and work with major employers, public bodies and high‑profile organisations.
The Role
- Advising clients on employment status, contracts, handbooks, redundancy, discrimination and day‑to‑day HR matters
- Providing clear, commercial support to HR teams on grievances, disciplinaries, performance and sickness management
- Managing Employment Tribunal claims from ACAS Early Conciliation through to appeals
- Representing clients in Tribunals, mediations and other dispute resolution processes
- Supporting business development through events, training, relationship building and thought leadership
You will work with clients facing high‑stakes challenges, including complex discrimination claims, whistleblowing investigations, restructures, TUPE, industrial action and multi‑layered disputes.
Candidate Requirements
- Be a qualified solicitor (England & Wales or Scotland) with 1‑5 years’ PQE in employment law
- Have strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and case law
- Bring experience handling complex matters, including settlement negotiations and Tribunal work
- Demonstrate excellent communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Show strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to managing a varied caseload
- Be confident working with multiple senior lawyers and prioritising effectively in a fast‑paced environment
- Be proactive in contributing ideas, improving processes and supporting team growth
- Have an interest in business development and maintaining long‑term client relationships
Advocacy experience and familiarity with Scottish employment law are advantageous but not essential.
