*Product Manager Core Services* As Product Manager for Core Services at Waggel, you will own the roadmap for the technology and platform capabilities that strengthen and evolve the machine behind Waggel. You will have long-term ownership of the Core Services domain, working with a dedicated cross-functional team to understand where our underlying technology needs to evolve and deciding how we get there. You will translate Waggel's company priorities into clear goals for your stream, identify and validate the most important problems to solve, build and prioritise your own roadmap and backlog, and own work from discovery through delivery to measuring its impact. Core Services is home to larger feature-driven technical initiatives, platform capabilities, infrastructure, AI and MCP enablement, and optimisation. You'll work particularly closely with Engineering leadership, while collaborating across Product, Operations, Marketing, Data and the other product streams to make sure changes to our core technology work for the wider business. This is a role for someone who can combine strong product judgement with enough technical understanding to confidently work on complex platform and engineering problems. You should be curious about how systems work and comfortable getting into the details when it matters. *What You'll Own: * *Core Services Strategy & Roadmap* Own the direction and roadmap for the Core Services stream. You'll take Waggel's company priorities and stream goals and turn them into a clear roadmap for strengthening our underlying technology and platform capabilities. *Discovery & Problem Definition* Work with engineers, stakeholders and other teams to understand the problem, validate its importance, identify constraints and define clear outcomes. We value simplicity and speed. Your job isn't to create processes for the sake of process, but to make sure the team understands the problem well enough to build the right thing. *Prioritisation & Backlog Ownership* Own and ruthlessly prioritise your stream backlog. You'll make trade-offs between competing opportunities considering impact against stream KPIs, effort, risk, complexity and dependencies. *Technical Product Leadership* Build a strong understanding of Waggel's underlying systems, architecture and technical constraints so you can effectively manage technical work. You'll work closely with Engineering to shape initiatives involving platform capabilities, infrastructure, integrations, technical optimisation and emerging capabilities such as AI and MCP enablement. You will be expected to ask good questions, challenge assumptions, understand trade-offs and always connect technical investment back to customer and business value. *Outcome & KPI Ownership* Collaborate with stream sponsors and stakeholders to establish and own goals for the domain. You will identify clear success criteria prior to delivery, track core stream KPIs, and evaluate the final impact of shipped initiatives. Use data, operational insight, interpersonal skills and stakeholder feedback to understand whether the roadmap is moving the domain in the right direction and adapt when it isn't. *Cross-Stream Collaboration* Waggel's systems are highly interconnected, so you'll work closely with the other Product Managers and teams to understand dependencies, upcoming changes and downstream impacts. You'll proactively surface roadmap collisions and make sure changes within Core Services support rather than disrupt Claims, Acquisition or other parts of Waggel. *Stakeholder Leadership* Build strong relationships with the people who understand and depend on the systems your team owns. Bring the right stakeholders into discovery and decision-making at the right time, while maintaining clear accountability for the roadmap within the Product team. You'll need to be comfortable listening, challenging, making trade-offs and explaining why something is or isn't currently a priority. *Delivery Leadership* Work with your cross-functional team to turn clear problems into shipped outcomes. Streams will have common standards around prioritisation, backlog management, release guardrails, KPIs and visibility, but individual teams have freedom over how they organise themselves day-to-day. *What We're Looking For* * Product management experience working within a cross-functional Product and Engineering environment. * Experience owning a product area, platform, technical domain or roadmap. * Strong product judgement and the ability to turn broad strategic goals into prioritised problems and deliverable outcomes. * Comfortable working closely with engineers on technically complex products, systems or platform capabilities. * Able to understand technical concepts, architecture and trade-offs without needing to be an engineer yourself. * Strong discovery and problem framing skills, with a bias towards understanding the problem before jumping to a solution. * Comfortable using data and KPIs to set goals, make decisions and measure impact. * Able to prioritise ruthlessly and confidently say no. * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. * Comfortable operating with autonomy in a fast-moving environment. Experience in insurance is useful but not essential.
