Wadebridge Primary Academy are looking for an After School Club Assistant to join our dedicated wrap‑around care team. This role is vital in ensuring our pupils enjoy a safe, happy, and engaging experience. The successful candidate will support pupils across the school, helping to create a calm and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a balanced, stimulating, secure and safe play programme and creative activities suited to the age ranges, learning needs and abilities of the children using the service and engaging those children in the planned activities.
  • Set up play equipment, ensuring that it is in good and usable condition.
  • Prepare rooms and resources.
  • Attend to daily duties and ensure that play equipment and materials are cleared away and safely stored at the end of each session.
  • Prepare food as required and assist children with the selection and distribution of refreshments.
  • Ensure food, hygiene and allergy procedures are followed.
  • Escort children to and from the school/agreed point/classrooms and ensure safe delivery to the parents/named carers.
  • Administer first aid when required and be aware of the medical conditions of children in attendance.
  • Record all instances, treatment and medication use on the appropriate system.
  • Promote safe, inclusive, and respectful play.
  • Be vigilant and proactive in supporting pupil wellbeing and behaviour.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly and supportively.
  • Be reliable, flexible, and committed to ensuring a positive after school club experience for all.

Working Hours

  • Monday 15:00‑18:00 (3 hrs)
  • Tuesday 15:00‑18:00 (3 hrs)
  • Thursday 15:00‑18:00 (3 hrs)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Enjoys working with children.
  • Has high expectations for behaviour and uses positive strategies to support pupils.
  • Will uphold and promote the school’s values during lunchtime.
  • Experience in first aid and working with children is desirable but not essential.

Requirements

  • Subject to an enhanced DBS check, Social Media check, and satisfactory references.
