A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll & Accounts Assistant to support the Finance Manager across both payroll and finance functions. Approximately 40% of the role will be dedicated to payroll processing and administration, with the remaining 60% focused on transactional finance and accounts support. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a varied position with exposure to multiple areas of finance.

Duties will include:

  • Processing weekly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current legislation
  • Managing payroll administration including starters, leavers, holiday pay, pensions, statutory payments, and payroll queries
  • Preparing payroll reports and supporting HMRC submissions, CIS reporting, and pension administration
  • Managing both sales and purchase ledgers, including invoice processing, credit control, reconciliations, and BACS payment runs
  • Performing bank reconciliations and maintaining cashbooks and petty cash records
  • Assisting with month-end processes and preparing supporting financial reports
  • Preparing and submitting VAT and CIS returns
  • Supporting the Finance Manager with ad hoc accounting tasks and reporting requirements
  • Providing general office and administrative support as required

About the Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a payroll and finance role, with a strong understanding of payroll processes and transactional accounting. You will possess excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Experience with Sage Payroll would be advantageous, alongside a proactive and flexible approach.
