Job Description
Deputy Head of Security
The Security Department of the Rothschild Foundation is responsible for the safeguarding of the collection, historic and commercial properties, staff and volunteers across the 5,500 acre Waddesdon Estate. Operating 24/7, the team manages the control room, responds to alarms and notifications from the Centralised Security System, double locking and unlocking buildings, and conducting routine patrols.
What you will do:
We are looking for an experienced and pro-active Deputy Head of Security (DHS) to support and lead our team of Security Officers and Rangers at Waddesdon. The DHS is primarily responsible for the daily operation of the department, including the line management of Rangers and Officers. You will also use your technical knowledge to proactively make adjustments to the high specification CCTV and Centralised Security Systems, ensuring the best performance is drawn from them, improving monitoring capabilities and response time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of all roles within the Security Department and be able to confidently undertake each as required.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of all buildings and facilities across the estate.
- Respond effectively to first aid incidents involving staff, visitors and contractors, ensuring all reports are submitted promptly to the Health & Safety Manager.
- Oversee and update all procedural plans and documentation, working closely with the HOST and the team to achieve this, including the disaster recovery plan.
- Respond to alarms, monitor any faults and advise the HOST on remedial action.

- Sick pay – if you become ill, one week of sick pay during your first 3 months. This rises to a maximum of 3 months full pay within a rolling 12-month period. After four years you also receive a further 3 months at half pay in the rolling 12-month period. Pension – We will top up your pension by matching any contribution you make, up to 10% of your basic salary.
