Hours: Part-time, 3 days per week or equivalent; flexible working pattern to be agreed, 12 month fixed term contract initially starting asap from January 2026 onwards.
Salary: 3 days pro rata of a full time salary of £45-50K per annum according to experience
Overview
WACL (Women in Advertising and Communications Leadership) is a professional network of senior female leaders established in 1923. It’s a not-for-profit organisation with a clear purpose to accelerate gender equality in the media, marketing and advertising industry, with the ambition to achieve 50% female CEOs in the industry. WACL is a not-for-profit organisation with a very small number of paid staff. Most of the Club’s activities are run by Members and Volunteers. This role reports to WACL Hon Treasurer and will develop and execute integrated digital strategies, manage the end-to-end digital Member experience, and ensure WACL’s values are reflected in every digital interaction.
Job Summary
WACL is seeking a proactive, self-starting candidate with a passion for digital communication and innovation, a keen analytical mind and excellent people and stakeholder skills, to play a pivotal role in driving our online presence, shaping strategic marketing campaigns and cultivating a thriving engaged Membership community.
Key Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of comprehensive digital marketing strategies to increase WACL brand and campaign awareness and drive Member engagement through owned, earned (and sometimes paid) media channels, particularly Active Campaign, Eventbrite, LinkedIn, Instagram etc.
- Overseeing digital communications for the entire WACL Membership lifecycle, from acquisition and onboarding to engagement, retention and renewal – working with the WACL Vice President and Members Experience Committee.
- Planning, writing and execution Membership communications, primarily email marketing to drive engagement in WACL activities and dinner and participation – working with the WACL President, Comms Lead and Treasurer.
- Supporting the planning and execution of WACL brand building activity and our key gender equality campaign - #Changethestats - working with the Campaigning Committee across email, social media, paid advertising, SEO, and content marketing initiatives.
- Coordination, creation and distribution of compelling digital content, working with internal teams and external partners to promote events, initiatives, and member benefits.
- Management of WACL’s website to ensure content is accurate, up-to-date, and optimised for SEO and user experience.
- Analysis of digital marketing and Membership engagement performance using analytics tools; produce regular reports with actionable insights for continuous improvement.
- Development and management of digital marketing budgets, monitoring spend and ROI to maximise effectiveness.
- Sharing understanding of emerging trends in digital marketing, technology, and membership engagement, proactively suggesting innovative solutions.
- Collaboration with key stakeholders across WACL to align digital and Membership strategies with broader organisational objectives.
- Compliance with data protection and privacy regulations across all digital and membership activities.
Ideal Candidate
- Demonstrable proficiency over a minimum of 3 years in Digital Marketing, Membership engagement/CRM and Social Media Marketing strategies and tools.
- Proven ability to plan and execute successful digital campaigns across various platforms (e.g., Google Ads, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X).
- Experience with email marketing campaigns and platforms (e.g. Active Campaign), CRM systems, and website CMS (e.g., WordPress, Drupal). With proven ability to build email templates, manage email sends and correct tagging and measurement.
- Experience overseeing production and budgets and reporting on KPIs and ROI.
- Familiarity with Web Analytics together with analytical skills and ability to interpret data to inform strategic decisions, assess and optimise marketing and Membership campaigns.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Knowledge of and passion for gender equality in marketing.
- Experience working within a Membership organization or non-profit is a plus.
- Strong self-starter with ability to work independently or collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and build relationships across all organisational levels.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Working understanding of data security and compliance issues (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
