The Role

As an Associate Director, you will play a senior, hands‑on role in shaping client strategy, leading high‑impact campaigns, and mentoring teams. You will be a trusted adviser to ambitious and technically complex clients, and a key contributor to the continued growth and reputation of London and wider EMEA and global business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translating complex client business objectives into clear, compelling communications strategies, narratives and PR programmes.
  • Leading the development, editing and quality assurance of client messaging, press materials and strategic plans.
  • Providing senior strategic counsel to clients, prospective clients and external stakeholders.
  • Overseeing the planning and execution of high‑profile, results‑driven communications campaigns.
  • Advising on brand positioning, reputation management and global media strategy.
  • Acting as a senior escalation point for high‑stakes media opportunities, including editor‑level engagement.
  • Leading crisis communications planning and response for clients.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with influential journalists across key markets.
  • Representing Wachsman in senior client meetings and new business discussions.
  • Designing and delivering internal training sessions and external client workshops, including messaging, narrative development and media training.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members, fostering ambition, confidence and professional growth.
  • Empowering account teams to deliver at pace while maintaining exceptional standards of work and client experience.
  • Supporting the Directors and EMEA leadership team in the ongoing growth and development of the business.

Skills & Requirements

  • 7–9 years’ recent experience in a PR or communications agency environment, with a strong focus on media relations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and identify opportunities that drive client impact.
  • Deep understanding of the media landscape and how to secure meaningful coverage.
  • Ability to distil complex or technical topics into clear, engaging narratives.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail and consistently strong standards of delivery.

Preferred

  • Experience working with fintech, financial services or adjacent technology sectors.
  • Crisis communications experience.
  • Experience facilitating senior‑level workshops or training sessions.
