A Division of Wabtec UK Ltd, Northampton-based firm Bearward Engineering manufactures radiators for the power generation industry and is currently recruiting for a Purchasing and Accounts Payable Coordinator.

Salary: £Competitive

Location: Northampton, (NN4 8HJ)

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 08:00am to 16:30pm, and Friday 08:00am to 15:30pm

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

How will you make a difference? The Purchasing and Accounts Payable Coordinator will play a key role in managing supplier relationships, onboarding new suppliers, and ensuring smooth operations across the supply chain. In addition, the role has a strong financial focus, taking responsibility for managing and resolving accounts payable queries, reconciling supplier statements, and ensuring invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner in line with company policies. The successful candidate will support cost control initiatives by monitoring spend, identifying discrepancies, and working closely with finance to maintain accurate financial records and reporting. There will also be an expectation to contribute to budget tracking, supplier cost analysis, and continuous improvement of purchasing and payment processes to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Supporting accounts payable activities by handling supplier queries, resolving invoice discrepancies, and ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Coordinating across procurement, finance, and production teams to support smooth material flow and operational delivery.
  • Managing supplier relationships by onboarding new suppliers, maintaining accurate records, and acting as the main point of contact.
  • Monitoring and improving supplier performance by escalating issues where needed and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Previous experience in a supply chain, procurement, or accounts payable role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Understanding of ERP systems and supplier onboarding processes.
  • Demonstrable verbal and written communication skills for liaising with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Attention to detail with managing data and financial transactions.
