Location: Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, (DE13 8EN)
Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:00 to 16:00, Friday 07:00 to 13:00, 40 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent – Full-Time
We are looking for an experienced Gear Cutter to join our team in Barton Under Needwood. You should be able to set, programme, and operate gear and spline cutting equipment.
Responsibilities
- Setting, programming, and operating gear cutting machinery
- Understanding gear nomenclature and measurement techniques
- Controlling machines and processes
- Using a wide range of measuring equipment to check components
- Working to tight tolerances without supervision
- Writing and interpreting instructions and procedures to assemble equipment and products accurately
- Obtaining relevant information from sources
- Performing inspections of equipment, structures, materials, and products
- Analyzing information and finding the best solutions to problems
Requirements
- A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification
- Experience with TOS gear hobbing machines, Churchill, Liebherr, Barber Colman, Pfauter CNC gear cutters (Siemens 840 control), Pfauter CNC gear tooth grinders (Siemens 840 control), Magg gear tooth grinders (CNC, manual, or semi-automatic) is advantageous
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Proficiency with test and precision measuring equipment, and hand tools such as micrometer and Vernier caliper
- Minimum 1-year experience in relevant rail or automotive industry
- Practical mechanical orientation
- Good problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated
- Recognised engineering qualification required
