Who will you be working with?
Napier Turbocharger, a Wabtec Company, has an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Support Engineer to join a well-established business designing, manufacturing, and testing industrial turbochargers supplied into the Power Generation, Marine, and Rail Traction industries.
Role: Field Service Support Engineer (Field Based) – Extensive travel and working in the field will be required, including service, repair & application support of Napier Turbochargers in the UK and worldwide.
Salary: £Competitive
Location: LN5 7FD, Lincoln
Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30am to 15:45pm and Friday 07:30am to 15:15pm
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
How will you make a difference?
As a Development Engineer the role will involve the design, installation, and commissioning of test rigs. You will work in close liaison with colleagues responsible for design, analysis, and applications. There will be opportunities to lead engineering projects and interact with customers to meet strict deadlines for the introduction of new turbocharger products or upgrades.
What will your typical day look like?
- Fault investigation and Root Cause Analysis of high-speed rotating equipment.
- Strong communicator, with the ability to engage confidently with Chief Engineers across power plant and marine installations.
- Capable of preparing detailed and accurate job reports promptly following task completion.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel globally at short notice for project assignments.
- Work within the Napier facility will be required to support customer product training.
What do we want to know about you?
- Recognised time served Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3.
- Practical experience of turbocharger operation & maintenance is desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of medium speed diesel engines would be advantageous.
- Excellent timekeeping and organisational skills, with the ability to manage tasks efficiently and independently.
- Experience of working away from home.
