Who will you be working with?
We are seeking an experienced Field Service and Technical Advising Specialist to join Wabtec’s Freight Global Services team in Leeds. At Wabtec, we move the world by helping customers deliver goods and services faster and more efficiently. We offer tailored solutions for operating needs, fleet strategy, and business trends, ensuring continued success through multi-year service agreements and adaptable service solutions.
Role: Field Service and Technical Advising Specialist
Salary: £Competitive
Location: Leeds – (Onsite)
Hours: Monday to Friday 06:30 am to 14:30pm, 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
How will you make a difference?
Our Field Service Technical Advice Specialists are trained subject matter experts in diagnosing and troubleshooting our Powerhaul (Class 70) Locomotives. There is the option to undertake world-class training at our corporate training facility where you will become certified in troubleshooting locomotive electrical systems and advising on the maintenance of our locomotive engines.
What will your typical day look like?
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and training during maintenance activities, working as part of a small team based at the customer site.
- Communicate effectively with customer production teams and management, offering guidance on troubleshooting, materials, tooling, and locomotive status.
- Analyse performance data.
- Travel within the UK as required to support operational needs.
Qualifications
- Full UK driving licence and willing to travel within the UK as required to support operational needs.
- Engineering-related HNC/ONC or higher or equivalent.
- Background in rolling stock or locomotive maintenance (desirable).
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
- Experience with large diesel engine maintenance.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools (e.g. multimeter, megger).
- Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics.
- Strong written communication skills.
