We are seeking an experienced Data and Systems Engineer to join our team at Wabtec UK based in Burton on Trent. We support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.
How will you make a difference?
The Data Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and usability of asset‑related data across the organisation. This role plays a key part in maintaining asset databases, supporting reporting and decision‑making, and leading or supporting the rollout of new asset management software and system upgrades.
What will your typical day look like?
- Maintain accurate asset and work order data, ensuring quality, integrity and compliance.
- Produce regular KPIs and reports, spotting trends, issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Support users with first‑line system, data and system queries.
- Train new users and help deliver system rollouts, upgrades, and enhancements.
- Coordinate data migration, testing and validation during system changes.
- Keep essential operational data (skills matrices, installed base, dashboards) up to date.
- Work with Operations, IT, Quality, Projects, and Warranty teams to resolve data issues.
- Assist dispatch with technician schedules and system accuracy.
- Promote strong customer relationships and support continuous improvement initiatives.
What do we want to know about you?
- Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Proven experience implementing and maintaining data or ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of ERP platforms, data integrations, and system interfaces.
- Able to provide technical guidance within a matrix organisation.
- Strong business acumen with commercial and legal awareness.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical issues clearly.
- Strong IT skills, especially Excel.
