We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to join our team at Wabtec UK based in Burton on Trent. We support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.

How will you make a difference?
As a Production Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day operations of our maintenance and overhaul facility—planning schedules, managing skilled teams, and ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and performance. You’ll drive operational excellence, deliver projects on time and budget, and play a key role in shaping the future of rail reliability.
What will your typical day look like?
- Manage, own and be accountable for all aspects of production within a department
- Deliver products to an agreed schedule
- Liaise with Planning, Resource management and other departments to develop a schedule to satisfy customer demand
- From the agreed, developed schedule from the planning department, review, request and manage required headcount from the resource management team
- Constantly review progress against schedules to provide early and good communications to the internal customers and stakeholders
- Contribute to tendering activities as appropriate
- Accountable for headcount volume management
- Control costs and seek efficiency improvements within department
- Communicate effectively and demonstrate the company values
- Ensure all employees comply with statutory and company regulations
- Control and improve health & safety of employees within the owned department
What do we want to know about you?
- Proven experience in production or operations management within rail, engineering, or heavy industry
- Experience leading and motivating technical teams in a workshop or depot setting
- Track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards
- Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance frameworks
- Experience with planning tools, resource scheduling, and performance tracking
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
