Napier Turbocharger, a Wabtec Company, is looking for a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team. We design, manufacture, and test industrial turbochargers for the power generation, marine, and rail traction industries.

Role: Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: £Competitive

Location: LN5 7FD, Lincoln

Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30am to 15:45pm and Friday 07:30am to 15:15pm

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

How will you make a difference?

  • Knowledge of modern machining and manufacturing processes, NC programming, ideally from a low-volume, high accuracy manufacturing environment e.g., Aerospace, Power Generation.
  • Candidates must be highly motivated, be a good problem solver and be able to work both independently and in a team environment.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Lead and manage projects within Manufacturing taking responsibility for delivery, project planning, execution and cost.
  • Creation and maintenance of supporting documentation to include Manufacturing Routings, Layouts and instructions.
  • Define, perform and implement investigations into non-conformance through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Inspection activities including the creation of non-conformance reports, in process and final inspection protocols.
  • Work cross functionally with different departments such as Design, Quality, Procurement and external suppliers.
  • Define and procure jigs, fixtures, tooling, gauging and lifting equipment.
  • Generate and implement cost reduction initiatives.
  • NC programming of multi-axis Turning, Milling, Grinding and EDM machines.
  • Programming of CMMs using PC-DMIS.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Ideally you will be qualified to HNC level or above in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with having undergone relevant training as Manufacturing Technician/ Engineer.
  • Experience in a modern manufacturing facility with a good understanding of modern machining techniques, plus problem solving techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Siemens NX (CAM) and Hypermill would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Computer/ software literate.
