We are seeking an experienced Safety, Health & Environment Advisor to join our team at the LH Group (a Division of Wabtec UK Ltd) based in Burton on Trent. We support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.
Location: Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, (DE13 8EN)
Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30pm and Friday 08:00am to 13:00pm, 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent, Full‑Time
How will you make a difference? To support the development, implementation and maintenance of compliant safety, health and environmental management systems across all activities; compile and maintain records and logs to facilitate KPI reporting; promote a positive safety culture and support functional and zone leaders with the management of their areas of responsibility.
What will your typical day look like?
- Provide an occupational health, safety and environmental service to operational activities and its personnel.
- Support the SHE department’s strategic activities to deliver people first commitments and legislative compliance across the business.
- Manage key improvement activities, to support implementation and continual governance of actions taken.
- Support Managers and other key staff to establish and maintain key Health, Safety and Environmental improvements within their areas of responsibility.
- Manage the site internal and external audit program, ensuring compliance with all associated legislation and management system requirements.
- Identify opportunities for continuous safety, health and environmental improvement.
- Support the business external activities including regulatory, audit and trade bodies on health, safety and environmental matters e.g., HSE, EA, BSI.
- Participate and support accident and incident investigations.
- Carry out Site Inductions for New Employees and Contractors.
What do we want to know about you?
- Happy to travel when required to other Wabtec UK sites and customers locations.
- Hold a NEBOSH Certificate in Safety, Health and Environment.
- Proven experience of designing and delivering HSE training.
- Demonstrate Commercial/legal awareness.
- Excellent understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Experience of working to ISO 45001, 18001 & 9001.
- Sound IT skills (particularly Excel).
- IT literate and fully conversant with all Microsoft office applications and MRP.
- Excellent organisational and prioritising skills.
