Field Service Support Engineer (Field Based) – Extensive travel and field work required, providing service, repair and application support for Napier Turbochargers in the UK and worldwide.

How you’ll make a difference
As a Development Engineer, the role involves design, installation, and commissioning of test rigs. You will work with colleagues responsible for design, analysis, and applications. There will be opportunities to lead engineering projects and interact with customers to meet deadlines for new turbocharger products or upgrades.
What your typical day will look like
- Fault investigation and root cause analysis of high-speed rotating equipment.
- Strong communicator with the ability to engage confidently with Chief Engineers across power plants and marine installations.
- Prepare detailed and accurate job reports promptly after task completion.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel globally at short notice for project assignments.
- Support customer product training within the Napier facility.
What we’d like to know about you
- Recognised time-served Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3.
- Practical experience of turbocharger operation and maintenance is desirable but not essential.
- Knowledge of medium-speed diesel engines would be advantageous.
- Excellent timekeeping and organisational skills, with the ability to manage tasks efficiently and independently.
- Experience of working away from home.
