Field Service and Technical Advising Specialist

Leeds – Onsite. Permanent, Full-Time. Salary: £Competitive. Hours: Monday to Friday 06:30 am to 14:30 pm, 37 hours per week.

We are seeking an experienced Field Service and Technical Advising Specialist to join Wabtec’s Freight Global Services team in Leeds. Role: Field Service and Technical Advising Specialist
Location: Leeds – Onsite
Hours: Monday to Friday 06:30 am to 14:30 pm, 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

How you will make a difference

Our Field Service Technical Advice Specialists are trained subject matter experts in diagnosing and troubleshooting our Powerhaul (Class 70) Locomotives. There is the option to undertake world-class training at our corporate training facility where you will become certified in troubleshooting locomotive electrical systems and advising on the maintenance of our locomotive engines.

What your typical day will look like

  • Provide technical support and training during maintenance activities, working as part of a small team based at the customer site.
  • Communicate effectively with customer production teams and management, offering guidance on troubleshooting, materials, tooling, and locomotive status.
  • Analyse performance data.
  • Travel within the UK as required to support operational needs.

What we want to know about you

  • Full UK driving licence and willing to travel within the UK as required to support operational needs.
  • Engineering-related HNC/ONC or higher or equivalent.
  • Background in rolling stock or locomotive maintenance (desirable).
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
  • Experience with large diesel engine maintenance.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools (e.g. multimeter, megger).
  • Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics.
  • Strong written communication skills.
