Overview
Our Field Service Technical Advice Specialists are trained subject matter experts in diagnosing and troubleshooting our Powerhaul (Class 70) locomotives. The role includes training and support at the customer site and may involve world‑class training at our corporate facility where you will become certified in troubleshooting locomotive electrical systems and advising on maintenance of our locomotive engines.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and training during maintenance activities within a small field team.
- Communicate effectively with customer production teams and management, offering guidance on troubleshooting, materials, tooling and locomotive status.
- Analyse performance data and recommend improvements.
- Travel within the UK as required to support operational needs.
Qualifications
- Engineering‑related HNC, ONC or higher, or equivalent.
- Background in rolling stock or locomotive maintenance (desirable).
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
- Experience with large diesel‑engine maintenance.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeter, megger).
- Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
