How will you make a difference?

Napier Turbochargers, a Wabtec Corporation business unit, is seeking a visionary Engineering Director to lead innovation, product development, and engineering excellence. You’ll oversee the full lifecycle of turbocharger systems—from design and testing to production and in-service support—ensuring alignment with business strategy and customer needs.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team covering Design, Analysis Applications and Test.
  • Define and execute the engineering strategy for industrial turbocharger products.
  • Oversee design, development, and validation of turbocharging systems for industrial applications (e.g., marine, power generation, heavy-duty vehicles).
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, and Operations to align engineering output with market needs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality systems (ISO, IACS, etc.).
  • Drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, performance optimization AND technical innovation initiatives.
  • Manage budgets, resource planning, and project timelines.
  • Represent engineering in customer meetings, technical reviews, and industry forums.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in turbocharger / high speed rotating equipment design, development, or manufacturing.
  • Proven leadership experience in an engineering management or director-level role.
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and rotating machinery.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAE tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks, GT-Power).
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
