Job Overview
Systems Engineer – Wabtec UK, Burton on Trent.
We support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.
Responsibilities
- Provide system engineering knowledge, experience and skills to Wabtec UK.
- Produce and check technical documentation including Technical Instructions, Overhaul specifications, production queries (PQs), technical bulletins, technical reports, technical specifications, technical queries (TQs), work instructions, wheelset data sheets, calculations, concessions and Engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Check and approve technical drawings, Engineering bill of materials (EBoMs), customer TI’s and any technical documentation produced by mechanical engineer.
- Provide risk evaluation, assessment and mitigation evidence for product safety hazards.
- Support investigations into failures of systems and components, determine root cause and present findings.
- Support the Wabtec UK tender process.
- Interface with external and internal customers on engineering project progress and issues.
- Maintain Engineering project plans and track Engineering deliverables.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience in mechanical engineering (rail experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of specification, design, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in CAD and MS Office tools.
- Excellent communication and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work independently and travel to customer/supplier sites as required.
