Napier Turbocharger, a Wabtec Company, has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join a well‑established business that designs, manufactures, and tests industrial turbochargers supplied into the Power Generation, Marine, and Rail Traction industries.

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
How will you make a difference?
The successful candidate will add value by driving measurable, sustainable improvements across manufacturing, using Lean and Continuous Improvement expertise to enhance safety, quality, productivity and delivery performance. You will strengthen Lean capability, lead cross‑functional improvement projects, and use data‑driven insights to implement practical solutions that deliver lasting business impact.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities:
- Proven experience using Lean and Continuous Improvement tools (e.g. value stream mapping, problem solving, Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt).
- Play a key role in re‑establishing and strengthening Lean capability within Manufacturing, supporting and upskilling CI leads across departments.
- Lead and coordinate continuous improvement and manufacturing projects, from scoping and planning through to implementation and delivery.
- Work cross‑functionally with engineering, production, supply chain, finance and other teams to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
- Monitor project progress, costs, risks and timelines, providing clear reporting to stakeholders.
- Use performance data and KPIs to identify issues, drive improvements and measure success.
- Lead Kaizen events to improve safety, quality, productivity and lead times.
- Standardise processes to ensure improvements are sustained.
- Conduct root cause analysis to resolve recurring issues.
- Provide technical input and problem‑solving support, ensuring solutions meet engineering, quality and safety standards.
- Work closely with production teams, suppliers and site stakeholders to implement practical, effective improvements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- You will hold a degree, higher education or professional qualification, or have completed recognised industry training or a Modern Apprenticeship.
- An excellent understanding of manufacturing processes: CNC machining, moulding, castings, welding, coatings, investment casting.
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
- Hands‑on experience applying Lean and Continuous Improvement tools and techniques to manage supplier deviation and non‑conformance.
- Able to interpret Engineering drawings.
- Legal authorization to work in the UK is required.
