We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Wabtec UK based in Burton on Trent. We support our customers through maintenance and operation optimisation with customised solutions for spare parts, repair, and overhaul activities on existing trains.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical expertise for our product group. You’ll deliver engineering solutions that improve safety, reliability, and performance, working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Your typical day will include:
- Providing mechanical engineering knowledge, experience and skills to Wabtec UK.
- Producing and checking technical documentation and drawings including but not limited to calculations, concessions, drawings, Engineering bill of materials (EBoMs), Engineering change orders (ECOs), maintenance manuals, production queries (PQs), technical bulletins, technical instructions, technical reports, technical specifications, technical queries (TQs), work instructions and wheelset data sheets.
- Ensuring assigned tasks are completed in line with timescales as agreed with Engineering management.
- Supporting the Wabtec UK tender process.
- Interfacing with external and internal customers on engineering project progress and issues.
- Maintaining Engineering project plans and tracking Engineering deliverables.
We require:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience in mechanical engineering (rail experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of specification, design, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in CAD and MS Office tools.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work independently and travel to customer/supplier sites as required.
