Job Description
- We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Home Building Construction to lead and oversee the company's residential construction operations from pre-construction through completion, closing, and warranty.
- This executive-level leader will have overall responsibility for construction, warranty, purchasing, and closings, ensuring homes are delivered on schedule, within budget, and according to our quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for residential construction operations.
- Oversee the complete homebuilding process from pre-construction through completion and homeowner closing.
- Lead and manage construction, purchasing, warranty, and closing functions.
- Establish and maintain construction schedules, budgets, quality standards, and production goals.
- Ensure homes are constructed according to approved plans, specifications, building codes, and company standards.
- Manage and develop Project Managers, Construction Managers, and other construction personnel.
- Oversee subcontractor and trade partner performance, productivity, quality, and scheduling.
- Partner with purchasing to ensure materials, products, and services are competitively priced and available when needed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other strategic partners.
- Monitor construction costs, budgets, change orders, and overall job profitability.
- Establish quality-control processes and conduct regular inspections of homes under construction.
- Oversee the homeowner warranty process and ensure warranty issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
- Coordinate with sales, operations, accounting, purchasing, and other departments to ensure smooth home deliveries.
- Oversee final inspections, punch-list completion, homeowner orientations/walkthroughs, and closings.
- Identify opportunities to improve construction processes, reduce costs, improve cycle times, and enhance homeowner satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, OSHA requirements, company policies, and safety standards.
- Track construction KPIs, including cycle time, cost variance, quality, warranty performance, and on-time delivery.
- Provide regular operational reporting and recommendations to company leadership.
- Help establish long-term construction strategies as the company continues to expand its communities and homebuilding operations.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in residential homebuilding/construction.
- Previous experience as a VP, Director of Construction, Construction Manager, or similar senior leadership role.
- Strong experience managing production homebuilding operations.
- Proven experience overseeing multiple functions such as construction, purchasing, warranty, and closing.
- Strong understanding of residential construction from foundation through completion.
- Experience managing Project Managers, Construction Managers, subcontractors, and trade partners.
- Strong financial and budgeting knowledge.
- Experience with purchasing, vendor negotiations, and subcontractor agreements.
- Strong knowledge of residential building codes, construction practices, quality control, and safety.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple communities and projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
