Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the authentic design geometry and quality is achieved on production release data.
- Ensure compliance between Production Release Engineering Data and Final Production A-Class Surface Data.
- Minimize geometry modification costs post mass production tooling KO.
- Work on the data in the CAD and ensure there is Improved Product Quality and maturation times.
- Overlay every Exterior and Interior A-Class Data vs 'Pre' Production Release Engineering Data in CAD.
- Creation of a report for each part checking geometry matching and position alignment.
- Work with Supplier to resolve manufacturability and quality issues of the data provided.
- Coordinate with CAE team to ensure component meets all CAE requirements, including durability, NVH and thermal requirement.
- Conduct package studies and prepare design Integrity reports showing all necessary evidence for the program gateways.
- Achieve static and dynamic clearance targets with the Powertrain and Vehicle systems.
- Work with manufacturing engineering, assembly and service team to ensure that component/System design meets the manufacturing, assembly and service requirements.
- Support BOM creation and maintenance for all assemblies and subassemblies.
- Release final frozen CAD package in iPLM and customer release system.
- Present Concept/Design or project status and support Design review/Function review and program team meetings.
- Achieve program deadlines as defined by program gateway deliverables.
- Support the Lead engineer to sign off Inspection reports, verify and validate the commodity requirements and design rules.
- Develop work plans and lead resolution of design and packaging related issues.
- Interact with clients and suppliers within India and outside India.
Knowledge, Abilities & Experience:
- Very good understanding of Class A surface, Plastic materials and Injection molding process.
- Ability to do complete geometry validation for Surface data of Interior exterior and report out the issues.
- Excellent knowledge of Automotive Body Interior or exterior parts design and development.
- Working knowledge on creating design integrity checks for the production release.
- Good Engineering Release and Data management skills.
- Capable of performing tolerance stack analysis on complex assemblies including fasteners and seals.
- Creative problem solving ability with strong commitment to quality and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of Vehicle and Powertrain components.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and be able to perform individually.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong Engineering & technical background including working knowledge of GD&T, DFM and DFA.
- Pro-active with very good learning attitude and ability to adapt to new work/project environment quickly.
- Basic understanding on quality tools, such as DFMEA, APQP, PPAP process etc.
Qualifications & Education:
- Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or equivalent from a reputed Institution / University.
Preferred Skills:
- Communication and Presentation Skills, Project Management.
- Software: Catia V5/V6 & 3D Experience and Team Centre, MS Office proficiency.
Experience:
- Cad Engineer - 3 to 6 years of experience.
