We are a long‑established UK manufacturer specialising in aerostats, inflatable structures, technical textile systems, and engineered fabric solutions for aerospace, defence and industrial applications. Our engineering team works across mechanical systems, pressure‑bearing structures, fabric design and bespoke assemblies for demanding environments. We are expanding our design capability and are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong Autodesk experience to support new product development, structural improvements and customer‑specific projects.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for the mechanical design of components and assemblies used in aerostats, inflatable structures, inflation systems, ground support equipment, lifting systems and technical textile interfaces. The role covers full‑lifecycle design: concept modelling, detailed CAD, manufacturing drawings, tolerance analysis and production support. You will work closely with fabric engineers, production teams and project leads to ensure designs are robust, manufacturable and compliant with relevant standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce 3D models, parametric assemblies and detailed 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor / Fusion 360 / AutoCAD
- Design mechanical components for inflation systems, load‑bearing frames, lifting structures, winch interfaces and ground support equipment
- Develop interfaces between mechanical hardware and technical textile structures
- Generate manufacturing drawings
