The W1M Fixed Income Desk requires a Fixed Income Analyst. The analyst will be primarily responsible for analysing the credit metrics of bond holdings and for making recommendations for sales and purchases for both client portfolios and the award-winning in-house bond funds.
Primary Role Objectives:
- Credit Research and Idea Generation: Provide analysis and recommendations to the desk, both on existing holdings and new ideas across all sectors, geographies and credit ratings. This will include proactively meeting with companies and analysts covering specific sectors/companies, attending new issue roadshows and producing research notes to keep portfolio managers informed.
- Economic Research: Stay up to date on market events, collaborate with equity and multi-asset analysts in the firm, and provide top-down research when required.
- Portfolio Administration: Assist portfolio managers in portfolio construction to ensure client investment objectives and bespoke requirements are met. Provide ongoing investment support to portfolio managers.
- Marketing: Collaborate with the Marketing department in the production of materials such as fact sheets, commentaries, presentations and external publications. The role will also include speaking with investors and clients, both internally and externally.
Key Accountabilities:
- Analysis of portfolio holdings and identifying new investment ideas that lead to superior performance for portfolios.
- Proactively arranging and conducting company meetings, speaking to brokers and attending conferences.
- Staying on top of news-flow, ESG trends, and ensuring research reports are written in a timely manner and uploaded to the investment team research database.
- Build a network, attend events, and increase knowledge of the fixed income investment universe.
- Ensure fund and portfolio positioning spreadsheets are updated and accurate.
- Demonstrate initiative in supporting the investment team to develop market-leading fixed-income capability through the development of investment processes and winning of new business opportunities.
Background and Experience required:
- 1-3 years of relevant experience at an asset management firm, investment bank, credit rating agency or accountancy firm.
- A demonstrable desire to pursue a career in the fixed income asset class.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and quantitative skills, with a clear interest in investments and financial markets.
- Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with PowerBI and Bloomberg is preferred but not required.
- Basic understanding of accounting and macroeconomic concepts.
