Opportunity to join a leading and expanding Wealth and Investment management firm to take a leading role in shaping and delivering our AI strategy to improve operational efficiency, enhance client experiences and reduce manual effort to drive us towards our goals. This will involve working closely with all areas of the business to help analyse problems, gather requirements and assess where AI tools or automation can add value, while playing an important role in educating internal stakeholders on AI capabilities and limitations, helping the adoption of solutions. This position is crucial in the development of our AI roadmap providing insight into cases, evaluating potential tools and supporting the assessment of whether to build or procure third-party solutions. It will involve collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to progress pilots, document outcomes and support business cases for investment. A key objective is to help ensure that AI initiatives are implemented in a responsible and compliance manner, supporting activities related to model documentation, monitoring and alignment to regulatory expectations (including GDPR, Consumer Duty and emerging FCA guidance on AI and model risk). You will be expected to remain informed of relevant AI trends and technologies and share insights on their applicability to W1M.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of W1M’s AI roadmap by gathering requirements, analysing business needs, and contributing insight on practical use cases.
- Assist in the design and development of AI and analytics solutions (e.g., predictive models, NLP, workflow automation) under the guidance of senior data scientists or engineers.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand problems, document requirements, and translate them into AI or automation opportunities.
- Conduct data analysis and profiling to assess data quality, identify gaps, and prepare datasets for AI and analytics use cases.
- Support the evaluation and delivery of AI and automation tools, including coordinating pilots, documenting findings, and helping define acceptance criteria.
- Contribute to model monitoring and ongoing maintenance, including tracking performance, updating documentation, and escalating issues where needed.
- Assist with model governance activities, such as maintaining documentation, supporting validation processes, and preparing materials for audit or review.
- Help automate manual processes by identifying inefficiencies, mapping current workflows, and working with technical teams to design AI-enabled improvements.
- Stay up to date on emerging AI trends and tools and provide input on how they may support business objectives in wealth management.
- Deliver training, guidance, and user support to teams adopting AI tools, ensuring they understand capabilities, limitations, and responsible usage.
Background / Experience and Competencies Required:
- 10 to 15 years of demonstrable hands-on experience with programming, machine learning or data science projects, either through internships, academic work, or personal projects.
- Experience with Machine Tools and Artificial Intelligence.
- Exposure to data analysis, model training, and evaluation techniques.
- Understanding of basic financial concepts or a willingness to learn about wealth management and investment products.
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data, including data cleaning and preparation.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) or version control tools (e.g., Git) is a plus.
- Experience of working for an AI vendor in the Financial Services sector (advantageous).
