W Talent are retained on a Production Director role with a highly successful and innovative manufacturing business based in North Yorkshire. This role is focused on supporting their continued growth and development.

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for leading the production function and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, to the required quality standards and within agreed timescales.

The Production Director will play a key role in shaping the production strategy, improving operational efficiency and ensuring the business has the people, resources, processes and capacity required to support its ongoing growth.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will provide leadership and oversight across the full production lifecycle, from project inception through to final delivery.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the Production Management team and wider production function.
  • Setting and delivering the production strategy, driving efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing the planning, build and timely delivery of multiple projects.
  • Ensuring production capacity, resources and facilities are aligned with the commercial pipeline.
  • Working closely with Sales and other senior leaders to ensure projects are realistically planned and production capacity is effectively managed.
  • Managing internal and external production resources, including subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered to the required quality, health & safety and environmental standards.
  • Providing senior leadership and support throughout project delivery, including onsite where required.
  • Developing people, succession planning and building a high-performing production team.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, productivity and the overall way the business operates.
  • Providing regular reporting and insight to the Board on production performance and project delivery.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Production Director, Head of Production, Operations Director or senior Production Manager who has operated within a complex, project-led manufacturing environment.

You will need to be a strong people leader with the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery.

The ideal candidate will have experience of:

  • Leading production teams within a project-led or bespoke manufacturing environment
  • Managing multiple projects and competing production priorities.
  • Improving production efficiency, capacity and processes.
  • Working closely with Sales and other functions to align operational capability with business growth.
  • Managing internal teams alongside external suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Driving a positive culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Most importantly, you will be a credible and engaging leader who can bring structure, pace and accountability to a growing production operation.
