W Talent are delighted to be partnering with an established FMCG manufacturing business based in Sheffield to recruit a Maintenance Planner on a temporary basis. This is an opportunity to join an established Engineering team, playing a key role in coordinating planned and preventative maintenance activities across a busy manufacturing site.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Planner will be responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring maintenance activities across site, ensuring planned maintenance is completed effectively and engineering resources are utilised efficiently. You will work closely with Engineering and Production teams to schedule preventative maintenance, manage the maintenance backlog, coordinate contractors and ensure the necessary parts, materials and resources are available to complete planned works. This role would suit an experienced Maintenance Planner or Engineering Coordinator looking for a contract opportunity within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment, where strong organisation and planning skills can directly support site reliability and production performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule preventative, planned and corrective maintenance activities across site.
- Coordinate maintenance activities around production requirements to minimise disruption.
- Manage and maintain the site maintenance schedule and engineering backlog.
- Liaise with Engineering and Production teams to ensure planned maintenance is completed within agreed timescales.
- Coordinate external contractors, ensuring work is appropriately planned and site requirements are met.
- Ensure the required spare parts, materials, tools and resources are available ahead of planned maintenance activities.
- Raise, manage and close maintenance work orders through the site CMMS.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure relevant documentation is completed.
- Monitor planned maintenance completion, outstanding work and maintenance performance.
- Support the Engineering team with maintenance reporting and performance data.
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance planning, scheduling and engineering efficiency.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of preventative maintenance programmes.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are planned and carried out in line with Health & Safety, quality and food safety requirements.
Key Requirements
- Previous experience within a Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Coordinator, Engineering Planner or similar role.
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment, ideally FMCG, food, beverage or another high-volume production environment.
- Strong understanding of planned and preventative maintenance processes.
- Experience using CMMS systems.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience coordinating internal engineering teams and external contractors.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with Engineering and Production.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
Advantageous Requirements
- Previous experience within an FMCG, food or other fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance and reliability improvement principles.
- Experience managing engineering spares and materials.
- Experience coordinating external contractors within a manufacturing environment.
- Relevant engineering qualification or technical background.
